An unfortunate casualty of the renovation work is an arborvitae tree on the southwest side of the house. Each year the tree leaned more toward the east, then grew straight up from its new position. The result was a trunk leaning more and more, with several bents in it. We hope to cut the wood and use the planks for some benches in the sauna.

Patrick and I shed a tear for the tree. We will plant something soon, in a little better place, for the shade and the birds who liked the tree.
