The Marmoleum samples came today from Forbo. This is what we would use on the main floor in the main traffic lane, the kitchen, utility and maybe bathroom. It comes in 13" x 13" tiles. It would be adjacent to the wood floor in a couple of spots, so we're trying to see if we like any of these colors.

From the left, clockwise, we see Rust, Cotswold, Brick and Apricot. The product comes with a top layer called Topshield:

"A strong, durable primer and a top layer ensure a highly effective shield against dirt. The cross-linked primer ensures smoothness and durability. The top layer guarantees resistance to scuffing and dirt. "

Hardwood floors are so beautiful and so in tune with your cottage. What is the deciding factor in choosing the marble look man-made surface over refinishing the hardwood now in place?

We are keeping every single hardwood floor that we now have.
In the existing hallway, bathroom and kitchen we have sheet vinyl that is dated and worn.

We chose linoleum because it has no PVC plastics and is made from natural stuff:

"Marmoleum is a fun, safe material made of linseed oil, rosin from pine trees, wood flour, cork flour, and finely ground limestone on a sturdy jute backing. It's colored using ecologically responsible, organic pigments that do not contain heavy metals such as lead as is the case in many other pigments."

Cotswald looks nice. It's nice and bright.
