Today the crew worked at getting the shingles and homasote off the south face of the building. They discovered some rot and a few relics of an amazing wasp nest in the stud wall. The north facade now has all the windows and doors installed on the first floor. Some of the neighbors are hoping we paint the house green, they kind of like the color of the drain-plane building wrap.
The foundation holes for the sonotube piers were dug today, partly with an auger from the excavation crew, partly by hand, on a hot day.
The sonotubes started to dissolve in the water in the bottom of the lower holes, so after thinking a bit, Larry, Tom & Zack scrambled to get some concrete mix, mix it by hand and pour in the bottom of the pier as a footing, and put it in the hole up to the point above the water level. The concrete truck isn't coming until tomorrow. It's amazing how deep 48 inches looks from above.

Will you put a larger window in the upstairs east wall for upstairs light at that end and also for a fire escape?
Will the entire facade of the house be of cement board? How nice never to have to paint. And good protection.
The progress is so fast. Great crew.
