The underworld under the sunroom

When the structure is exposed under the sunroom, we find some rot and carpenter ant activity. We also find some very interesting structure. There is essentially a steel beam rim joist, with a steel beam down the center. Then it looks like Mr. Hommel used whatever wood was left in the recycled pile and criss crossed it. He was very creative. :-) But who's to complain when it lasted 60 years.

Many thanks go to the crew who tackled the "vile pit" of chewed up insulation, mouse nests and carpenter ant nests -- a disgusting glop of odious and odiferous materials.

You have a mudroom! And a place to play in the snow, or the shade on a hot day. Congratulations
