Decisions made on Day 3

Herein follows pretty important but dry (for the non-builder) information:

Exterior Walls: We'll put 1" of XPS insulation on top of 1/2" plywood on top of the existing 1" T&G on 3 1/2" studs. Many thanks to Jill Fudo for the clip & trim detail at window head and jambs. The 1" of rigid will provide a continuous exterior of insulation. Pactiv RainDrop will be the moisture barrier/drainage plane atop the plywood.

Roof: It will be 2x8s 12" o.c. and we'll slope the structure 1/4" per foot. The E.P.D.M. will adhere directly to the T&G plywood. Tom suggested some drip edge details and talked about options for what kind of metal. We're looking at galvalume rain gutters (and a couple of rain chains on the front porch, Phase 2.)

Interior Walls: The World-War-II-glider-wing paneling is dear to my heart, and also very hard to remove from the gypsum it is adhered to. We discussed trying to save at least half of it, and use it as wainscot. It is in four rooms of the house and has a nice golden glow when the sun hits it.
